Kim Kardashian News: Kanye West Divorce Update

Celeb news broke the internet when TMZ reported that Kim Kardashian has filed for divorce from her husband Kanye West. The report comes after months of rumors that the two were over.

Kim filed the documents on Friday through her lawyer Laura Wasser. “The split is amicable and there is no drama,” an insider told the gossip site.

The date of separation was not listed on the docs but they indicate that Kim is seeking joint legal and physical custody of their four young children: North, seven, Saint, five, Chicago, three, Psalm, 21 months.

It was also alleged that neither party will contest their wedding prenup and they are negotiating how to split their extensive real estate portfolio. Kim and Kanye began dating in 2012, were engaged in 2013 and wed in May 2014. Kim reportedly stopped wearing her wedding ring in November 2020, though she has worn it in photo shoots.

In October the divorce rumors spread like wildfire after the couple argued during her 40th birthday party at The Brando resort in Polynesia. But the embers were smoldering as far back as July when he decided to run for President of the United States. This is Kim’s third divorce; she was married to Damon Thomas from 2000 until 2004 and she was married to NBA star Kris Humphries from 2011 until 2013.

Kim is reportedly worth almost $1 billion courtesy of her makeup, fragrance and lingerie lines and Kanye is believed to be worth $1.3 billion due to his music, concerts, apparel and shoe lines.

An insider told People recently, “Kim is great. She has a Valentine’s Day celebration planned with her kids and family. She likes to make it special for the kids. She doesn’t have any contact with Kanye. It’s obvious that she is just focused on the future.”

Kim will reportedly discuss the end of her marriage on the last round of the family’s signature E! reality series with a source saying of Kanye, “He is less than thrilled,” that his divorce will be broadcast on TV. The source added that Kim will continue to, “focus on her business empire. Kim has been in individual counseling and is at peace with where her life is headed.”
