Outlander Season 6 To Premiere This December, Starz Confirms Series Will Be Back For Season 7

Outlander spoilers and updates reveals fans have been wondering why season six hasn’t been released yet? The reason for the delay in production was as a result of the Covid-19 outbreak. According to one of the movie’s stars (Sam Heughan) in a Q&A segment on Twitter, production plans and schedules were entirely altered by the highly contagious disease that ensured everyone stayed indoors for close to six months in 2020.

However, the good news is that the casts are currently in Scotland filming the sixth season expected to premiere late this year. Heughan revealed the first episode of the sixth season is underway while they will complete the rest of the season’s episodes as soon as possible.

“We have started… Ep 1!!! So excited. But you’re going to love the rest of this season.” he wrote on his official Twitter handle.

Another report which calls for fans’ celebration suggests that Starz has renewed their commitment to show the series beyond season six.

There has been massive unrest among Outlander’s fans as it wasn’t sure season 7 would be aired by Starz. However, the fear has finally been put to rest as it is confirmed that the well-watched historical drama season seven will premiere on Starz at the appropriate time.

In one of its reports earlier today, TvLine claimed that Starz has agreed to showcase the drama’s upcoming season. The media outlet further stressed that the upcoming seventh season would be written based on the novel — An Echo In The Bone — written by Dianna Gabladon. It will contain 12 episodes, just like season five.

Outlander’s showrunner Matt Roberts has equally confirmed the reports while speaking to reporters. According to him, the production crew is happy with the news that Starz has given the go-ahead to begin season 7 production as they are more than willing to air the interesting TV series.

“We are excited Starz has given us the opportunity to continue the epic Outlander journey,” he said.

The obviously-happy Matt Roberts reiterated the crew’s readiness and eagerness to start writing season seven of the excellent drama series. On their part, while confirming the latest development, Starz disclosed Outlander’s stars, Caitriona Bale, Sam Heughan, Sophie Skelton, and Richard Rankin, will be back for Season 7. The names above won’t appear in the sixth season of the drama season but will be coming back to the scene once the filming for the seventh season begins later in the year.
