NCIS Spoilers tease that the NCIS showrunners may be preparing viewers for Leroy Jethro Gibbs’ (Mark Harmon) last season with Gibbs’ indefinite suspension. Mark Harmon has played the iconic character for eighteen seasons now!
NCIS Spoilers – Why Was Leroy Jethro Gibbs Suspended?
NCIS viewers will recall that during the most recent episode of March 17, called “Watchdog”, the NCIS team not only saw their leader put in handcuffs and taken away, they saw him suspended indefinitely by NCIS Director Leon Vance (Rocky Carroll). This followed the bust of a dogfighting ring, in which Gibbs beat up a suspect after finding dogs drowned in cages in a pond. The suspect, Luke Stana (Max Adler) had been killing dogs that lost in the dog fights.
Gibbs’ fellow agents endangered their own NCIS careers by trying to cover for Gibbs, when they were questioned about his behavior by NCIS Inspector General Eugene Coyle (Hugo Armstrong). They all claimed that Stana tripped and fell as he was trying to flee Gibbs’ pursuit of him, even though Gibbs had told all of them the truth. This of course, was considered a felony offense and not wanting Coyle to punish his team for lying to a federal officer, Gibbs told him the truth – on the condition that he didn’t get his team in trouble.
When the investigation was concluded on NCIS, to everyone’s surprise, the report on Gibbs’ use of unnecessary force stated that due to evidentiary issues, further investigation was required and a conclusion had not been reached! Coyle had his own reasons – he owned two rescue dogs himself, explained Vance. Coyle didn’t want to be the one to end Gibbs’ career, and so Vance suspended him because Coyle ordered him to. Even then, Gibbs was not suspended for his behavior towards the suspect, but for his attitude.
NCIS Spoilers – Jethro Leroy Gibbs Goes Home With A New Pet, But Who Will Lead The Team?
Gibbs adopted one of the dogs that had survived, the one that Special Agent Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama) had brought to NCIS where he and Forensic Scientist Kasie Hines (Diona Reasonover) were caring for in her forensic lab in the NCISbasement.
NCIS spoilers show Vance asks Gibbs if he regretted his actions, and Gibbs said he did, but only that he didn’t kill the sick animal abuser! Vance told Gibbs he had put him in an impossible position with that statement, and then he took Gibbs’ gun and his badge. During Gibbs’suspension, the team will most likely be led by Special Agent Timothy McGee (Sean Murray).

NCIS’ McGee is the Senior Field Agent and has led the team in the past. However, this time would be different because they would be on their own, and unable to call Gibbs for help. In addition, they don’t know how long they will be on their own. Speculation is rampant that the team will be without Gibbs for several episodes just to test their ability to function without him. Rumors have swirled that Harmon is ready to exit the series as well.
His contract is reported to end after this season – season eighteen – and many NCIS spoilers sources are speculating that he may be ready to leave the series. If he does, NCIS may end with him, because insiders have been reported to say that if Harmon leaves, they will pull the plug on the long running series.
NCIS actor Harmon is said to have negotiated appearances in a handful of episodes in season nineteen in order to keep CBS from pulling the plug! As for renewal, CBS has not officially renewed the series yet. Fans feel Tony DiNozzo (Michael Weatherly) déjà vu recalling his last season.
Stay tuned to NCIS, and keep checking NCIS spoilers frequently for all the latest news, updates and developments!
