British royal family news shows that Meghan Markle Duchess of Sussex may have acted rashly by cutting an official visit short due to a perceived snub that happened years earlier.
The event in question occurred in Fiji. At the time her attendants blamed heat, humidity and crowds for the duchess’s decision to leave after just eight minutes. This was greatly upsetting to the market vendors who had waited to meet her.
Royal biographer Robert Lacey is shedding a brighter light on that move, suggesting that the whole fiasco could have been affected by UN Women, which hosted the event.
Royal Family News – Did Meghan Markle Perceive Herself As Snubbed?
Let’s unpack what we know. In 2015, before dating Prince Harry, Meghan gave a keynote address on gender equality for UN Women in New York. Her claim to fame was a role in a cable show and yet she was given a standing ovation.
Lacey noted, “[Meghan] had rubbed shoulders with the likes of Hillary Clinton… and might have hoped to join UN Women’s distinguished roster of goodwill ambassadors that included celebrities such as Nicole Kidman and Emma Watson… but in those pre-Harry days UN Women only assigned the cable actress the lesser role of advocate.”

Thus her brief eight minutes could be related to her disappointment and resentment.
Lacey quotes a Los Angeles screenwriter who told him, “Meghan does not cope well with what she perceives as rejection. ‘She’s nice and smiley as can be until you step in her way or don’t give her what she hopes for. Then she can be remorseless – heaven help you!” Yikes that sound like the Loch Ness Monster!

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry embarked on a royal tour of Australia and Fiji in 2018 and blamed heat, humidity and crowds for the duchess’s decision to leave after just eight minutes. She was due to make a 20-minute visit to the market in Suva, the Fijian capital, to see the work of Markets for Change – a project run by UN Women.
However, a source told The Times that her decision to leave was because of UN Women; she had only agreed to visit the market if there was no branding for the organization.
Her PR spin team denied that allegation and said she met leaders from UN Women later in the tour.
