Royal Family News: Zara Tindall Back In The Saddle Again, Returns To Competitive Sport

Zara Tindall British royal family news reveals that Zara Tindall is back in the saddle again, returning to competitive sport less than four months after the birth of son Lucas on March 21.

Zara rode Class Affair as she competed in the dressage phase at Barbury Castle International Horse Trials. She looked smart in a white shirt, gloves and riding hat with black leather riding boots. She won a team silver medal at the London 2012 Olympics and was presented with her medal by her mother Princess Anne. The silver Olympic medalist lives with her family on her mother Princess Anne’s Gatcombe Park estate in Gloucestershire.

Additionally Zara was crowned world eventing champion in Germany in 2006 and this led the UK to vote her the BBC Sports Personality of the Year.

The royal was not able to compete at Badminton Horse Trials last year due to the pandemic. Of this she said, “Having horses like Class Affair and Watkins to aim at Badminton was exciting and gave everything a focus; now those goals aren’t there, it’s quite weird and you have to deal with the disappointment.”

She went on to say that she’s lucky to be able to spend time with her horses during lockdown, a perk that not everyone could enjoy.

Zara was seen smiling and appeared thrilled to return to the sport she’s competed in for years. In lockdown, Princess Anne’s daughter who is married to former rugby player Mike Tindall, made sure to put family first as she looked after her two daughters Mia Grace and Lena Elizabeth, and anticipated the birth of son Lucas. Since the arrival of her third child, Zara has been seen on family outings, and yesterday she and her husband enjoyed the second week of the Wimbledon competition.

The equestrian competition takes place in Wiltshire, near Malborough and it began Thursday and goes until Sunday. The equestrian star joins the best riders from around the world as they compete in a four day event.

Zara told a Horse & Hound magazine that she enjoys the pressure of competing: “I love riding for my country; those have been the best experiences of my career, to get your horse to that level is what it’s all about, and what we all strive for.”

“I love the big occasion because I love the pressure – sitting on a horse that you know is good enough, you are fully prepared, riding for your country, it’s what your dreams are made of.”
