The J.T. Hellstrom (Thad Luckinbill) storyline has unofficially come to an end on the Young and the Restless. After more than a year’s worth of set up and more than eleven months of a steep ride, Y&R fans and the residents of Genoa City have the answers they need. Now, everyone can move forward.
Critique is common in today’s social media age, where people feel compelled to offer their opinions about any subject. That reality played into the atmosphere that enveloped the extended J.T.-based storyline.
Kudos are offered to any and all at Y&R who decided to bring back Luckinbill’s character. Doing so allowed J.T.’s legacy to wallow in monster status. Instead, the soapy story, where he was pushed through the Chancellor Park grave into a storm drain, thereby allowing him to live, is acceptable from this perspective.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – No Cop Out From J.T. Hellstrom
Longtime Y&R fans, along with those who came to the show more recently, were not forced to accept that J.T. went dark simply because of career setbacks and because he acted on a held grudge against Victor Newman (Eric Braeden), due to Colleen’s (Tammin Sursok) death.
Luckinbill’s hospital bed scene with Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) was particularly touching and realistic. J.T. didn’t cop out, by blaming all of his behavior on the revealed and now removed brain tumor on his frontal lobe. He took responsibility for not having gotten help and is facing legal action for having tried to kill Victor as well.
The overturn of Nikki Newman’s (Melody Thomas Scott), Vickie’s, and Sharon Newman’s (Sharon Case) convictions obviously makes sense. The vacating of their sentences is also digestible, in that it allows all characters to advance.
Young And The Restless Spoilers – Christine William’s Comments Touching
Christine William’s (Lauralee Bell) comments to J.T. were also moving. Her mention of Paul William’s (Doug Davidson) strong feelings for him, especially in light of all that happened, added particular depth because of how the Chief utilized J.T. during the investigation of Braeden’s character and because of Davidson’s cast comeback.
