To say that Summer and Kyle have experienced a roller coaster relationship ride would deeply underplay events that took place during the last handful years. Following Y&R’s write-offs of Summer and Kyle (as then played by Lachlan Buchanan) in the mid part of the last decade, Skyle returned to Genoa City, Wisconsin, and took center stage.

Summer was written back differently, as her time away from home enabled a transformation into a very self-centered persona. Kyle (being the recast Mealor) wanted nothing to do with Summer at first. He eventually pursued and married Lola Rosales (Sasha Calle), in what proved to be a rebound union.

While Kyle cared for Lola, she eventually got him to admit that Summer was his true love. A Skyle wedding was planned and delayed a few times. Tara and Sally disrupted Summer and Kyle’s lives before Y&R put them back together, albeit in Europe.

Phyllis can be fierce, as Sally, in particular, and Tara have learned the hard way. But devoted fans of this steamer also know that Stafford’s great character is a complex person who has a heart.

The thought of Summer moving permanently to Italy has deeply affected Phyllis, moving her to tears. Stafford’s classic alter ego is lashing out, with the hurt she feels being projected is some forms of anger.

Meanwhile, Nick is trying to soothe matters. He knows that Phyllis can go off-course. Since Phick is a couple, Nick is fully invested in Phyllis’ day-to-day stability.

The Young And The Restless Spoilers – Jack Abbott’s Family Feelings On Display

Losing Dina Mergeron (Marla Adams) was a terrible blow, though it was expected. The Abbott family handled that matter with grace and dignity.

Learning that Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez) was his grandson brought joy to Jack’s world at a time in life when he sorely needed it. That is what makes Kyle’s plan to have Harrison live in Italy with him and Summer so hard to swallow.

Jack and Phyllis will likely come around. They may need to lean on each other as that happens, which is something Nick may eventually develop serious questions about, as could Phick fans.
