General Hospital comings and goings reveal Genie Francis taking a break from playing Mayor Laura Collins. As the most beloved cast member and the heart of the soap, it will be sad to see her go, but will she be back?
General Hospital Spoilers – Think Of Laura Francis…For A Little While
Francis told TV Insider that she needs a little break from GH for a while but she has every intention of returning. “I’ve had such a fun time on GH, and I’ve absolutely loved what the writers gave me to work with this season,” Francis said. “And, there are some really great storylines planned for the fall – but for now, I’ve decided to take the summer off. I am very much looking forward to spending the time with my family and relaxing a bit. I promise, though, I will be back to Port Charles before you know it.”
So, it sounds like Francis just needs a little rest and relaxation after a busy year on General Hospital in which Laura learned she had two half brothers, the imprisoned-again Cyrus Renault (Jeff Kober) and the southern fried lawyer, Martin Grey (Michael E. Knight). It was a shocking time for Laura, especially when she learned how crazed Cyrus really was. He held her at gunpoint not caring that they were siblings and then shot an unarmed Curtis (Donnell Turner) point-blank in the chest.

GH Spoilers – What Will Be In Store For Laura Francis?
Lately, Laura hasn’t been doing much except worrying over grandson Spencer (Nicholas Chavez), and she is the only adult he may even listen to. She also has been a go-to for everyone in town to drown their sorrow because she is Laura, the character that kept the soap alive more than 40 years ago when it was nearly canceled.
Indeed, Francis says she has been enjoying this last year as Laura, a woman who is all about family.
“I was absolutely thrilled with the story,” Francis told TV Insider. “This all goes back to what makes Laura ‘Laura.” They’ve done such a wonderful job of tying her history into the present in such a brilliant way. I’m thrilled that today’s audience knows even more about Laura and who she is.” To see how Laura is written off this time around, stay tuned to General Hospital weekdays.

Always sad to see Laura go… glad she’s coming back. I loved Jason and Cam, and the boxing lesson! Hoping Jason and Elizabeth’s paths cross in the near future. Probably the only reason I’m still watching ….
The two will probably cross paths as they live in the same small town, but for a pairing, I doubt if that will occur.
Hope Jason and Britt finally get together. Sonny comes back to Carly with even stronger love for each other and Nina gets wat she deserves for keeping sonny in the dark about who he is. That is cruel of her. She deserves Peter, she's no better than him. And nelle needs to stay dead. Michael and willow deserve happiness finally. Mayb chase can understand, forgive and move on with someone special too and not wrk with austin.
