General Hospital Spoilers – Maurice Benard Addresses Retirement Rumors
Recently General Hospital’s Maurice Benard addressed the rumors about his impending retirement. Benard wasn’t surprised to hear how hard General Hospital chat rooms were being hit with rumors of his retirement since the Mike story began. Benard admits that he thinks about retiring all the time but will always honor his contract. Benard says that General Hospital is his second family and he doesn’t plan on going anywhere at the present time. Benard says he is enjoying the show right now. “Negativity makes me laugh, sometimes it just fuels me to be great.” Of course, this was regarding his alter ego. One fan replied that he must see a lot of negativity because he’s pretty great so far. Of course, Maurice fans love him no matter what, however, Mike was not loved by several after months of Sonny not remembering his life.
GH Spoilers – Retirement Rumors
Some General Hospital fans admit that they are not ready to see Benard retire no matter how difficult some of the stories get. Maurice Benard has often spoken about retiring but hasn’t said for sure when that will happen. At one point he discussed retiring at 65 and then it was 67. In all honesty, Benard should keep asking until he decides it is time to stop and move on to something else. Recent rumors have been fueled by Benard’s talk about how difficult Sonny is to play at times. Benard refers to Sonny as dark and brooding, almost like he is depressed by the thought of stepping back into the role. Barnard also admitted that he liked being Mike because the guy was more laid back and at ease.

General Hospital Spoilers – Maurice Benard Knows People Hate Sonny Corinthos
General Hospital’s Benard knows that some people hate Sonny and for good reason. After all, Sonny has done a lot of them that some people would find unforgivable. Sonny is inadvertently responsible for A.J. Quartermaine’s death with Ava Cassadine’s (Maura West) help. Sonny is a ruthless mobster who is determined to have his way no matter what. However, some fans would rather Sonny be dead than act like his alter ego “Mike”. Most Sonny fans who like the mobster side of him hated Mike. Sonny fans have complained for months wanting his memory to return.
When Maurice retires, Sonny fans will certainly be heartbroken. However, for the moment, Maurice isn’t ready to go anywhere just yet.

I liked Mike (I always looked at it as if he was somehow funneling his Dad and I loved Mike, both actors who played Mike) but I love Sonny. I wouldn't be the same without him and Carly (or Jason and Sam). Yes, there has been some mob stuff but it is usually just between the mobs and it's like the Corinthos people just protecting PC and the people by cleaning up the bad guys. As far as Victor, Peter, Ryan, and Esme go, it has always been known that Victor is a Cassidine and is ruthless, I like him as a baddie, Peter is a product of his raising, Cyrus, Ryan, Nelle, and Esme are evil, as well as ruthless, baddies, and psychos and they kill or damage just for the fun of it.
