Kristen Bell in forthcoming Netflix dark comedy series is going to be a blend of suspenseful films like “The Girl on the Train” and “The Woman in the Window”.
It’s safe to say that the latest look at Kristen Bell’s new character was strategically made to keep everyone wondering and wanting more.
Netflix Releases First Peek At Kristen Bell’s Latest Project
“The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window” follows a woman named Anna (Bell) who goes about every day with a glass of wine in her hand and her eyes watching everything she can see from her window. The cycle breaks when a handsome man moves in next door and she witnesses a brutal murder (at least that’s what she thinks).
“The Good Place” alum first surprised her fans with her latest starring role when she casually shared a pic of her reading a pile of thriller books and called it “research” for her “new Netflix series The Woman in the House.”
In its official press release, Netflix described the series – which parodies famous thrillers like “The Girl on the Train” and “The Woman in the Window” – as “a darkly comedic, wine-soaked, satirical slant on the psychological thriller that will have you guessing who, what, where, why and how in the hell?! until the very end.”
Intrigued? The series will be dropping on Netflix later this month.
Further Details On “The Woman In The Window…”
Kristen Bell will be stepping into the shoes of the fictional Anna, a woman with an alcohol problem who takes detective work upon herself to prove to the cops that she really did witness a murder.
The trailer, which was released by Netflix on Tuesday, opens with Anna sharing her fears in an AA-type support group. “The truth is that I drink… a lot,” she says. “And sometimes I mix it with pills. And I’m here because I woke up this morning convinced I’d witnessed a murder.”
But it’s hard for Anna to convince anyone that what she saw was real, especially since she is a known alcoholic. With so much doubt from people, even the cops, she begins to doubt herself as well.
Everyone who hears her story about witnessing a murder calls her “crazy” and it’s becoming increasingly hard for her to keep herself from believing it too.
“You know, I used to feel bad for you, but I do not feel bad for you anymore, and I will not pray for you anymore,” one acquaintance named Carol angrily says in a heated exchange with Anna.
The film’s comedic and sarcastic lines are balanced against a backdrop of more serious and fatal incidents, like a person jumping or falling off from a lighthouse and another getting run over by a car.

The show stars Kristen Bell as the main character Anna. Additional cast members include Michael Ealy, Tom Riley, Mary Holland, Cameron Britton, Samsara Yett, Christina Anthony, and Benjamin Levy Aguilar.
There’s also a “big juicy cameo right at the end”, so make sure to watch all eight 30-minute episodes so you don’t miss it.
“The Woman in the House Across the Street from the Girl in the Window” will premiere on Jan. 28.
