General Hospital Star William Lipton Undergoes Surgery, Tweets Hospital Pic!

General Hospital star William Lipton caused his fans to do a double-take when he shared a hospital pic on Twitter. A staged photo from his role as Cameron Webber? Not exactly. 

Instead, the GH actor shared that he had just undergone surgery in real life! Find out all about his procedure below. Plus: Discover what Lipton just shared about whether Cameron’s good boy exterior might hide a darker side!

Ouch! That’s how General Hospital star William Lipton’s (Cameron) fans reacted when he shared the need for surgery in a recent Instagram Stories. Lipton shared a pic in which the actor sported a surgical gown and mask. “Tonsils will be out soon,” promised William.

And soon after, Lipton turned from Instagram to Twitter to provide an update. The photo showed the young actor in his hospital gown, complete with a serious (and adorable!) case of tousled bed hair. “Success!” tweeted William. “Thank you all so much for your kind messages and support.”

Lipton’s Twitter followers responded with questions and wishes for fast healing. Some eager General Hospital fans even wanted details on his surgery. “What happened? Did you have surgery? I hope you feel better soon!” responded one.

“Tonsillectomy. Thank you!” shared the actor. And one fan even suggested William’s post-surgery menu. “Enjoy your ice cream, mashed potatoes Potato rice, scrambled eggs. That’s what I ate 8 months ago, when I had my Tonsillectomy. Ugh. Feel better soon, Sweetie,” wrote the fan.

But that real-life “sweetie” could portray Cameron’s dark side when he returns to General Hospital after his tonsillectomy. Lipton has shared his interest in showing Port Charles that his gentle exterior could hide something more edgy, “I would definitely like that,” shared William. “I always joke with [executive producer] Frank Valentini, saying, ‘When is Cameron joining Sonny’s Mob?’”

And if that opportunity does turn up, Lipton would welcome the opportunity. “I will definitely be smiling if I get a script that portrays something like that,” he added. As Elizabeth’s son, Cameron may face challenges in doing a deep dive into the mob world. But as Lipton pointed out, Cameron’s past on the paternal side could lead to an exploration of the darker side.

“That would be such an interesting line of story to delve into, especially considering Cameron’s past,” pointed out the General Hospital actor. And analyzing Cameron’s history with fathers, the character has “been pretty unlucky,” added William. For instance, Lucky’s actions sparked a series of challenges. 

“There were a lot of difficulties that Cameron had to deal with before finding stability,” pointed out the General Hospital star. “One of the parallels between Cameron and Zander that has already been shown on the show in a very subtle way,” he added, “was when Cameron was pointing a gun, was about to shoot Jason and then got in a stand-off with the police. That’s how his father died.”
