At the beginning of this custody battle storyline, it seemed Devon had simply gotten attached to Dominic Newman-Abbott-Chancellor (Rainn and River Ware). Then, Devon began talking about how something could happen to Abby or Chance, and it would be beneficial for Dominic to have another parental figure.

In Monday’s episode, it will start off with Devon saying Abby left him “no choice” by refusing to change the agreement. Devon is acting like he has a legal right to the child but he doesn’t. Devon was just the sperm donor and was never intended to be a father figure to Dominic, which everyone agreed to.

The Young and the Restless spoilers reveal that Abby lashes out at Devon. It is understandable why she’s upset, but she’s going about this the wrong way. With that being said, Devon finally blurts out the real reason why he’s going after custody. It’s due to him not having faith in Chance’s ability to be a father. Y&R Spoilers – Was It Necessary?

When Devon blurts out what was said to him privately, Chance puts his foot down. Chance tells Devon “that’s enough.” Devon and Amanda Sinclair (Mishael Morgan) go home while Chance tries to comfort Abby.

Devon might be concerned, but that doesn’t warrant him trying to get custody. He can say it’s to “help” Chance all he wants. Devon just wants to be Dominic’s father and thinks he can do a better job than Chance. That was evident in Devon’s dream, where he told a crying Dominic that “daddy was coming.”

Abby is aware that Chance is struggling and is gently encouraging him to get help. If Devon were truly concerned about Chance, he would tell Abby to get her husband professional help. Devon would give Chance a safe place to vent instead of blabbing their private conversations. Devon would help Chance bond more with Dominic rather than take him away. Not only is Devon’s tactics unnecessary, but it’s also cruel to Chance, Abby, and Dominic.
