Coronation Street Spoilers: Laura Neelan On A Mission To Find Out What Happened To Rick

Coronation Street star and Laura’s portrayer Kel Allen has hinted at an upcoming huge storyline for the Neelans to work out the mystery of Rick’s mysterious death.

After disappearing from the cobbles since her daughter Kelly’s (Millie Gibson) murder court trial who was involved in the hateful attack that killed Seb (Harry Visinoni), Laura (Allen) will return to the cobbles next week to deliver her devastating news.

Kelly is enjoying a moment of solitude with her newfound foster family Gary Windass (Mikey North) and Maria Connor (Samia Longchambon) after living rough on the street. She’s oblivious to the fact that Gary is doing this kind gesture to atone for his sins of killing her father Rick (Greg Wood) in self-defense two years ago after Rick attempted to kill him to end his misery with his loan sharking activities.

However, Kelly’s peaceful life is about to end as she will taste another bitter pill when Laura announces she only has a little time left on earth because of stomach cancer. Understandably, she won’t believe her mother after the many times she betrayed her but she later sympathizes with her because she looked terribly ill to be lying.

Later in the week, Gary sees Kelly packing her bags which teases she’s ready to get reunited with her mom.

Running out of time, Laura couldn’t afford to waste any second to connect the pieces about her husband’s death. Now that she’s closer to her husband’s murderer, soap star Kel Allen teased that Laura is “on a mission” to find out what’s happened to Rick.

“She wants to find out what’s gone on. And all I can say is there’s gonna be absolute fireworks,” she told Digital Spy.

Teasing that some scenes are “mental” and the result is “epic,” Kel revealed: “This is the reason I wanted to come back.”

Not only does she work out Rick’s mystery but also learns to value her daughter Kelly. She revealed that the mother and daughter will start to reconcile when she announces her terminal diagnosis.

Kel mentioned the pair’s resistance and understands Kelly’s response that she has many reasons not to trust her mom because of their encounters in the past. “But that slowly breaks down, and the bond is there between them both again, which is so lovely,” she added.

Corrie revealed that Laura’s exit in Weatherfield is just around the corner. Having just reconciled with her mom, how will Kelly handle both her mom’s passing and the revelation of her father’s death?
