‘King Richard’ Star Will Smith Honors Williams Family In His SAG Awards Speech

Will Smith previously portrayed the role of Richard Williams in the 2021 movie, King Richard. The film was based on a true story showing the life of a father as he turned his daughters, Venus and Serena, into iconic tennis champions.

The outstanding performance of the 53-year-old actor has been recognized by several film accolades, which made him bagged his first Golden Globe trophy for Best Actor and his first-ever Screen Actors Guild award.

Will Smith – Expresses His ‘Deepest Pleasure’ To Williams Family

The Williams family was also present in the SAG Awards, sitting right next to Will Smith, and celebrating with the actor the moment his name was called for the Best Male Actor in The Leading Role.

An emotional Will Smith stepped up onto the stage and honored the family, especially Richard Williams, whom he considered as a dreamer like no other. “He has a power of belief that borders on sanity and sometimes tips over the border, which is absolutely necessary to take something from impossible to possible,” he said.

The King Richard star also thanked the family for trusting him, the other cast members, and the people behind the film to spread their story. “Thank you very much. It was my deepest pleasure to honor your family and tell your story to the world,” Will stated.

After winning the SAG Awards, Will Smith is also likely to take home another trophy as he was also nominated as Best Actor in the upcoming Academy Awards.

Will Smith’s – Wife Jada Pinkett Smith Talks About ‘Entanglements’ on SAG Awards Red Carpet

Jada Pinkett Smith was caught in an awkward moment when the E! News host, Laverne Cox, mentioned the word “entanglements” during the SAG Awards red carpet.

Jada was known for that certain word last 2020 when her episode of Red Table Talk with her husband, Will, talked about their relationship. She then admitted her previous “entanglement” with the singer August Alsina.

After talking about the film, Cox suddenly said: “We can’t wait for more Red Table Talk and more entanglements.” Jada laughed and faced the uncomfortable situation as she raised her fingers and said, “No more of those!”
