With Melissa Claire Egan’s (Chelsea Lawson) return date (June 28) now known on ‘The Young and the Restless’, Adam Newman’s (Mark Grossman) storyline is set to swing. He’s been out of sorts without the main woman that he loves. But that stance can soon change.
Of course there won’t be an instant resolution to all of Adam’s woes, of which most are self-inflicted. Okay, arguably, all of them are his fault.
Adam is flailing, which includes making a half-play for Sharon Newman (Sharon Case). It’s not that he’s fallen back in love with her, as she knows. Instead, he’s using her as a substitute for Chelsea.
Sharon’s sympathy and seemingly, some of her past feelings have been stirred. Chelsea’s choice, upon her return, would put a stop to that. With the noted choice, being to reignite ‘Chadam’.
A key plot point will be if Y&R writes in Chelsea’s husband, as she’s said to have remarried since presuming Adam dead. If so, it could take awhile for ‘Chadam’ to bounce back. And yes, that implies that it will.
Most pressing, at the moment, even before restoring his marital tie to the one woman who Adam seemed to love more deeply than all others, is winning the Christian Newman (Jude and Ozzy McGuigen) custody battle against Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) and regaining contact with Connor Newman (most recently played by Gunner and Ryder Gadbois).

Chelsea will decide what happens with Connor, as he’s the son they had together. As for Christian, Egan’s returning character will likely prove vital in that choice as well.
If the legal action Adam is pursuing gets to a judge, testimony will need to be heard. Chelsea is a unique witness, considering her intimacy with Adam and Nick. She also can verify that Adam (as then played by Justin Hartley) took mercy upon his brother in not telling Nick that he was only Christian’s uncle.
The compassion Adam and Chelsea demonstrated toward Nick was due to Sage Newman’s (Kelly Sullivan) death. They didn’t want to compound Nick’s grief.
Surely, Chelsea’s current actions with Connor and her words about Christian will swing Adam’s fate. Plus, she can comment on Adam’s fatherly role with their son. Yes, Egan’s return projects as dynamic for her reprised character.
