British royal family news shows that the sight of Prince Andrew front and center at the memorial service for his father Prince Philip last week was considered outrageous by many. It was not that the disgraced royal was present, but it was the commandeering way in which he thrust himself back into public life after being mothballed from duty. Just weeks before, Andrew paid his sex assault accuser millions of dollars in an out of court settlement.
He denied wrongdoing, but the optics of the man who has been out of sight for years escorting the queen herself left many royal watchers unsettled.
Royal Family News – The Queen Has Mobility Issues
A royal insider told People magazine, “People around the Queen are sad that all everyone was talking about is Prince Andrew and not Prince Philip.”
The sentiment was that the, “image of Queen Elizabeth entering Westminster Abbey on the arm of their disgraced son, Prince Andrew,” left many feeling “sad.”
Her Majesty and Andrew arrived together from Windsor to the Service of Thanksgiving in London. Royal expert Robert Jobson was quoted as saying that, “there was uneasiness among senior members of the royal family about the Queen’s decision, ‘but she insisted.’”

Jobson thinks that the decision, “shows she wholeheartedly loves and believes her son. As she did when she made a statement about Camilla being Queen’s Consort, many people will now accept the Queen’s word and judgment.”

He added, “She has faith in Andrew. Even if he disappears from public life, he’s been able to pay tribute to his father, who after all, was very proud of his service in the Royal Navy, where he fought in the Falkland Islands conflict.”
At the beginning of the year the Queen took Prince Andrew’s military titles and patronages away from him, and he was banned from using the title HRH. The move was made after Virginia Giuffre filed a civil case against Andrew, claiming she was an underage sex trafficking victim of his friend Jeffrey Epstein when the prince had sex with her on three occasions.
Andrew has denied guilt and tried to cleanse his reputation starting back in 2019. That year he gave a train wreck interview to the BBC about his connection to Epstein, but the results were considered so controversial that he later announced that he was stepping back from his royal duties.
