Jack’s mother-in-law, Laura Horton (Jamie Lynn Bauer) paid Gwen’s mother off in order to keep Gwen’s existence a secret. When Gwen found out, she vowed revenge. Laura tried to clear the air with Gwen, but she died in Gwen’s hotel room. At the time, Gwen told the authorities that Laura had slipped, and Jack vouched for her at the time. But Gwen continued to commit one crime after another.

Abigail exposed almost all of Gwen’s crimes right before Gwen was to marry Xander Cook (Paul Tefler). Jack was so disgusted to hear everything Gwen had done. He disowned Gwen right there and then. But Gwen had one more secret, and as she was carted away in handcuffs, she whispered something shocking to Abigail. Gwen told Abigail that she murdered Laura in cold blood. Abigail was certainly rattled. If Jack wasn’t through with Gwen before, once he finds out that she murdered Laura, he will never speak to her again!
