Young and the Restless News: Melissa Claire Egan Headed To The Hallmark Channel

Melissa Claire Egan

Melissa Claire Egan, who’s known for her role as Chelsea Lawson on “The Young and the Restless,” stars in an original film produced by the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries channel. She’ll portray the role of Audrey, the leading lady, in the film called “Holiday For Heroes.” Hallmark Channel teased the film’s plot by posing a question, “Is true love in-store when pen pals meet in person?” The movie is scheduled to air on November 8 as part of Hallmark’s “Miracle of Christmas” programming slate.

“Holiday For Heroes” – Teaser

In an interview with CBS Soaps In Depth, Egan teased that her character is a hardworking coffee shop owner who starts corresponding with the deployed First Sergeant Matt Evans after sending some of her coffee to him. Their chain of letters ensues when the latter sends a thank you note for the coffee he received. Their letters for one another becomes personal and later on turns romantic. They get to know each other on a much deeper level through their correspondence and eventually sets a face to face meeting.

Other Cast Members

First Sergeant Evans will be portrayed by Marc Blucas. Patti Murin, who’s known for her recurring role in “Chicago Med,” is also among the cast members. “Holiday For Heroes” is Egan’s first project with the Hallmark Channel. But she’s not the first daytime actor who has collaborated with the family friendly channel. Alison Sweeny and Jen Lilley of “Days of Our Lives” as well as Ryan Paevey of “General Hospital,” has appeared in different Hallmark movies.

Melissa Claire Egan’s Role As Chelsea Lawson on Y&R

Egan recently reprised her role as Chelsea Lawson on “The Young and the Restless.” She started taping her scenes back in May and has returned to the canvass in the early summer. Her excellent portrayal of her character has landed her several nominations including two Daytime Emmy nominations for Best Supporting Actress in 2013 and 2014. Prior to that, she also played Annie Lavery on “All My Children.” Again, she did a great job as she was a three-time Best Supporting Actress nominee for playing her role. Egan has yet to bring home the trophy. Perhaps her reappearance on “the Young and the Restless” give her enough juicy material for her to finally win in 2020.
