Not much is known about what will happen afterward. However, fans have been busy speculating and coming up with their best theories. Recently, actors Drake Hogestyn (John Black) and Deidre Hall (Dr. Marlena Evans) discussed the storyline.

Speaking to Soaps.com, the actors couldn’t give any details on which of their on-screen children would be appearing. However, Hogestyn did give some juicy tidbits on what fans can expect with the time jump.

“[There’s] a very unusual time jump. Ron [Carlivati, head writer] has crafted a really complex interesting way of telling the story that makes you hang on with both hands. As actors, we really had to chart and keep a ledger on where we were within the moment and fill in the blanks on what may have transpired.”

He added that he wasn’t sure of when the time jump would take place. However, he estimated it would begin around Thanksgiving and include a “big reveal” on New Year’s Eve.

As fans recall, last New Year’s, Vivian Alamain (then Louise Sorel, now Robin Strasser) showed up. She brought along Stefan O. DiMera (then Tyler Christopher, now Brandon Barash). Nobody even knew that Stefan DiMera (Joseph Mascolo) had another child out there.

John and Marlena are a fan-favorite couple. The DOOL duo have been involved on and off for years and recently, celebrated an anniversary. Hall described “Jarlena” as a “solid home base,” adding it is what every soap opera needs — a stable and recognizable couple.

Hogestyn added that “Jarlena” is about stability. When people are young they often bounce in and out of romances. However, older couples invest a lot in their relationships. John and Marlena are setting a standard as to what a couple should be.

The website asked the Days of Our Lives actors to share their soapy wish. It is pretty simple — they both believe they need more humor. They would also like John and Marlena to go on adventures while “engaging in amorous activities.”
