Royal Family News: The Duke Of Kent Releases Memoir To Rebuke Harry’s Book

British royal family news shows that The Duke of Kent has beat Prince Harry to the royal memoir punch, with his book coming later this month, while Harry’s debuts in fall. Whereas Harry’s book is expected to rock the monarchy, Her Majesty’s cousin, 86, has written ‘A Royal Life,’ as a tribute to the monarchy.
According to The Telegraph the Duke recalls his role in the Queen’s Coronation as anxiety-provoking, with the worry that he would forget his lines.
The memoir will drop later this month and his prominent role in the ceremony is just one of the many insider tidbits he dishes.

At the time of the ceremony, the Duke of Kent was still a teenager. Just age 17, the Duke was told he would sit next to his cousin Prince Philip, the Duke of Edinburgh, and his uncle, Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. All three of the dukes were meant to pay homage to the Queen following the Archbishop of Canterbury.
The Duke of Kent recalls of his lines, “I had been given the impression that I had to remember them so I had learned them by heart.”

He remembers his big moment as, “quite daunting” since the ceremony was televised to a global audience. But to his relief, when it was his turn to talk, the Bishop of Durham conveniently held up a card with the lines to be said by the Duke.
He adds, “The whole service was pretty long and it was certainly very impressive. It got to the point where people were eating sandwiches out of their coronets.”

The Queen Is Celebrating Her Platinum Jubilee
In 1952 then-Princess Elizabeth and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh were on a tour of the Commonwealth and in Kenya when news reached them of her father’s death. Just days earlier King George VI had seen them off. Her installation ceremony was the Duke of Kent’s first major royal ceremony experience.
His book is expected to have the opposite tone from Harry’s tome and as such has been received as a rebuke to the trash-talking Duke of Excess.
