Phyllis loves her daughter intensely. Summer was forced out of town by Sally Spectra (Courtney Hope) in the recent past. That somewhat unbelievable story line happened because Hunter King (Summer) and Mealor could not reach contract renewal agreements with the show. Both cast members downshifted to recurring status, with King’s amicable leave happening earlier this year.

Jack was upset that Diane thought it was okay to fake her murder and then remain out of Kyle’s life since he was a boy. Bergman’s character has skated a fine line with Kyle about the role his mother should play in his life, which was wise.

But Phyllis has no qualms about telling Kyle, Summer or whoever that Diane is bad news.

Y&R Spoilers – Love Rediscovered In GC

Jack professed his continued love to Phyllis last year. She was shocked to learn he believed she was his enduring soul mate, with the understanding that Phyllis and Nick Newman (Joshua Morrow) were a couple at that time in the plot.

There were no expectations that Phyllis would leave Nick. But TPTB would soon split Phyllis from Nick, with Morrow’s character taking the lead in that break.

The discovery of Allie Nguyen (Kelsey Wang) and Diane’s revival has included Phyllis being by Jack’s side. Whether Stafford and Bergman’s characters reunite could arguably be spurned by Diane’s return.

Diane genuinely wanted to apologize to Kyle and explain herself. She accomplished that goal with Jack’s help.

If Diane is able to become part of Kyle’s life, which includes Summer and grandson Harrison Locke (Kellen Enriquez), then Walters’ character can shift her focus.

Devoted viewers know that Diane would not have been written back to transform her into a role model citizen. No, once she has reestablished herself, the soapy games will begin. But rather than just having Phyllis to battle, Diane will also have Summer looking out for the Abbott family.
