Coronation Street Star Georgia Taylor Talks About Charlie De Melo’s Exit

Coronation Street spoilers, news, and updates tease that Georgia Taylor expressed her sadness when she talked about Charlie De Melo stepping out from the cobbles.

When it was being said that Imran Habeeb will soon leave the soap, the production remained the idea a secret until it was confirmed that the rumors were true. Georgia Taylor, who plays Toyah Battersby in the soap, closely working with Charlie De Melo’s Imran Habeeb in the current storyline, and knowing that her onscreen husband will soon leave the show, the actress opened up her thoughts.

“Heartbroken! I adore him, he’s been an absolute dream. We’ve been together onscreen about three and half years,” she said per Digital Spy. Taylor also mentioned that they were always doing scenes together since the storyline of Seb’s death and Kelly Neelan’s (Millie Gibson) trial. However, the 42-year-old actress believed that Charlie De Melo will soar high in his future career plans. “He’s been amazing, but also, I’m so excited to see what he’ll do next. The opportunities will be endless for him. I think he’s going to fly,” she said.

“I feel there have been times recently when she’s potentially been a little bit of a pushover. I’ve been reading the scripts going, ‘Oh, come on! Bring a bit of that Battersby backbone back,’” she said. Taylor also mentioned Imran Habeeb’s storyline of being a flawed character who loves his son so much, and Toyah who longs to become a mother, supported her husband with his decision to fight for the baby.

In addition, Georgia Taylor also opened up about the comeback of Martin Hancock, who played Spider Nugent in the soap. “We worked together for a good sort of three years, and it was mainly Toyah was infatuated with him, she was following him around like a little puppy dog. He was like, oh no, she’s a bit too young, let’s just be friends,” she said.
