Prince Harry and Meghan Markle have secured their U.K. base by renewing their lease on Frogmore Cottage. This is coming after it was reported that Princess Eugenie, who is subletting the house, and her family would now be spending half the year in Portugal, where her husband Jack Brooksbank landed a new job.
A royal commentator predicted that the Sussexes opted to renew their lease so that they can “cause complete chaos” as much as they want to.
Royal Expert Questions the Motive Behind Meghan and Harry’s Reason to Renew Lease on Frogmore Cottage
Princess Eugenie, Jack Brooksbank and 1-year-old August will be splitting time between a luxury resort in Portugal and Frogmore Cottage.
Brooksbank, 36, got a job with property tycoon Mike Meldman, a long-standing business partner of Hollywood actor George Clooney.
On the other hand, Princess Eugenie is expected to keep working as director for the London art gallery Hauser & Wirth on a hybrid basis.
The couple have now moved out of Frogmore to enable the Sussexes to move in comfortably during their Platinum Jubilee visit.
Meghan is said to not be satisfied with Frogmore Cottage because of its limited rooms, and once asked the Queen whether her family can move into Windsor Castle.
Speaking on the reason Meghan and Harry want to retain control of Frogmore Cottage, royal expert Angela Levin said: “One is that they need to get back within the Royal Family so that Netflix is happy and they can do some good filming.”
“With this lease they’ll be able to come back and forth much as they want and cause complete chaos.”
She also told MailOnline of Meghan’s dislike for the house, saying, “Meghan didn’t even like Frogmore. It only has five bedrooms unlike their mansion in Los Angeles. So I don’t think they’ll be planning on staying there for long.”
Frogmore was converted into one home in 2019 for the Sussexes after having been five separate properties for staff working on the Windsor Estate.

The Whole Renovation Famously Cost The Sovereign Grant £2.4million.
The family home is thought to have five bedrooms, a kitchen, a sitting room and a nursery first created for Archie.
The house has since undergone some changes since the Brooksbanks moved in. Frogmore Cottage is only a short drive away from the Queen’s private apartments at Windsor Castle.
