British royal family news reveals that 96-year old Queen Elizabeth will not attend Friday’s Platinum Jubilee thanksgiving service at St. Paul’s Cathedral as planned following an eventful first day of a four day celebration.
Royal Family News – The Queen Cannot Attend
The 96-year-old monarch was in her element today as she watched the once in a lifetime event kick off with the grand Trooping the Colour parade. She stood on the palace balcony with her loved ones around her as the parade passed and a military fly by took place overhead.
The Queen has been pulled out of several recent engagements, including the opening of parliament last month, due to ongoing mobility issues. While she was in fine fettle today she is said to have experienced ‘discomfort’ during the day. The Platinum Jubilee commemorates her 70-year reign.
Despite her absence at tomorrow’s signature event, she will make an appearance at tonight’s lighting of the beacons event at Windsor Castle.
Royal Family News – The Queen Pulls Out Of Friday’s Event
The Palace issued a statement that said: “The Queen greatly enjoyed today’s Birthday Parade and Flypast but did experience some discomfort. Taking into account the journey and activity required to participate in tomorrow’s National Service of Thanksgiving at St Paul’s Cathedral, Her Majesty with great reluctance has concluded that she will not attend.”
“The Queen is looking forward to participating in tonight’s Beacon lighting event at Windsor Castle and would like to thank all those who made today such a memorable occasion.”

Royal Family News – The Queen Appears Happy And Healthy
The latest palace announcement did not indicate Her Majesty’s availability for the rest of the holiday events. On Saturday an Epsom Derby race is scheduled and on Sunday a special Pageant celebrating the life of the UK’s longest-reigning monarch is scheduled.
The first day was not without hiccups however. It was announced that Prince Andrew has Covid, having seen the queen in the last few days; she contracted Covid months ago. Also, Harry and Meghan are back in town, and managing to make spectacles of themselves already with Meghan appearing in a giant hat concoction, and photographed shushing up royal children. Some things never change.
