Amber Heard Says She’s Terrified Of Being Sued Again

At this point, the question should be what does Heard get to achieve by saying all these about Depp? It’s not easy to come to terms with the loss of the defamation trial, we get it, but, isn’t it time that Heard moved on?

While speaking with Savannah Guthrie on NBC’s Dateline Friday night, Amber Heard said she is “terrified” that Johnny Depp will sue her again for defamation. “I guess that’s what a defamation lawsuit is meant to do,” she said in her first interview since she lost her high-profile case against her ex-husband. “It’s meant to take your voice.”

Heard went on to say that the trial taught her a big lesson, “What I learned in that trial is, it’s never going to be good enough,” she said. “If you have proof, then it was a scheme — it was a hoax. If you don’t have proof, it didn’t happen. If you have a bruise, it’s fake. If you don’t have a bruise, then violence clearly didn’t hurt you. If you told people, then you’re hysterical. If you didn’t tell anyone, it didn’t happen.”

Furthermore, she regrets how some members of the public reacted to her personally. “I’m not a good victim, I get it. I’m not a likable victim. I’m not a perfect victim, I get it. I’m not a saint. I’m not asking anyone to like me.”

Amber Heard – Blames Social Media For Affecting The Jurors’ Judgement

Social media is not left out of Heard’s book of blames, she in fact said it was due to social media that the jurors gave an “unfair” verdict. NBC cites stats surrounding TikTok hashtags: #JusticeforAmberHeard received 27 million views, while similar hashtags for Depp garnered billions.

“I don’t care what one thinks about me or what judgements you want to make about what happened in the privacy of my home in my marriage behind closed doors,” said Heard. “I don’t presume the average person should know those things, so I don’t take it personally. But even somebody who is sure I am deserving of all this hate and vitriol, even if you think that I’m lying, you still couldn’t look me in the eye and tell me that you think on social media there’s been a fair representation. You cannot tell me that you think that this has been fair.”

She told Guthrie that none of her actions were driven by vindictiveness — “this would be a really lousy way to get vengeance” — but that she’s concerned about the repercussions the ruling could have on the willingness of other abuse survivors to come forward: “I hope this doesn’t have the chilling effect that I worry it may have on other people.”

Johnny Depp’s – Attorneys Say The Jurors Had No Access To Social Media

Speaking to Guthrie two weeks ago, lawyers for Depp asserted their belief that “social media played no role whatsoever” in the verdict.

The jurors were ordered not to research or read about the case, though they were not sequestered. Heard’s lawyer also told Today in an interview that aired earlier this month that the judgment regarding Depp’s libel trial in the U.K. had not been disclosed to the jurors.

Depp sued The Sun newspaper in 2020 after an article claimed he had assaulted Heard. He lost that case when the judge ruled that the paper’s claims were “substantially true.” Heard now plans to appeal the verdict in her own case.
