British Royal family news reveals Prince Harry has spearheaded a months-long campaign to get the UK government to reinstate his police protection. It now appears that the row is to be reignited in a second lawsuit which, if successful, could facilitate a flurry of similar lawsuits by the rich and famous, according to Newsweek.

As royals fans know, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex lost their taxpayer-funded police protection through a Home Office and VIP Executive Committee (RAVEC) decision a month after the duke and duchess announced that they were stepping down from royal duties. Royal Family News – Duke’s Lawyer Faced ‘Significant Tensions’ Over Security Downgrade

Prince Harry wants the right to pay for his security detail, via the Metropolitan Police, out of his own pocket when he visits his home country. To that end, his lawyers have indicated they will soon file for a second review in the matter.

One of Harry’s lawyers recently revealed that had personally faced “significant tensions” with a top aide to the Queen involved in the downgrade of the duke’s security, Express UK reported on Saturday, July 9. More recently, Amber Melville-Brown, of international law firm Withers said that if the prince’s endeavor is successful it could evolve into more cases further down the line from other rich and famous people trying to upgrade their security.

Royal Family News – West End Could Wind Up as the Wild West

Melville-Brown explained that if Harry were successful in this new legal move, “it might leave the door ajar for others—the devil will be in the detail of the claim and the court’s ultimate ruling.” At present, British security teams are prohibited from carrying guns, but police protection officers are also able to shake paparazzi by using their blast through traffic jams and stop lights.

Melville-Brown added that, if the duke’s new legal move is as wide as it is forecast to be, “some will fear a win for Harry risks turning the West End, Westminster and the West Country into the Wild West.” Ultimately, this is all speculation but it’s worth watching to find out how much of it, if any, is likely.
