“Bridgerton” star Regé Jean-Page is calling out his fellow men for being silent in the face of hatred and anger towards women.
This is coming after Florence Pugh faced backlash for wearing a sheer pink Valentino gown this past week.
Regé Jean-Page Holds Men Accountable For Keeping Quiet When Women Get Bullied
On July 10, Florence Pugh uploaded an Instagram post addressing the hate she got for the dress she wore during this year’s Maison Valentino runway show. “It isn’t the first time and certainly won’t be the last time a woman will hear what’s wrong with her body by a crowd of strangers, what’s worrying is just how vulgar some of you men can be,” Florence wrote. “Thankfully, I’ve come to terms with the intricacies of my body that make me, me. I’m happy with all of the ‘flaws’ that I couldn’t bear to look at when I was 14.”
Several celebrities spoke up in support of the star, including the “Black Widow” actor, Regé Jean-Page, who lashed out on the “vulgar men” for bodyshaming Florence in a post he shared with fans in Instagram.
“What. Is. So Terrifying?” he asked. “Take a look at yourself fellas. Then take a look at your mates and step up when it’s time to step up. When the boys are out of line, have a word.”
The Bridgerton star continued: “The weird thing about misogyny is men actually listen to other men, so do your bit, cos [sic] the next few years in particular are gonna be a really good time to listen, and take some responsibility, for everyone’s sake.”
It’s nice to see a man speaking out on the hatred women keep getting. Women get blamed for literally everything, from being raped to a marriage falling apart. The society has painted a picture of what a woman should be and behave like. Any woman who behaves otherwise gets ostracized from the society.
Men feel threatened by a woman who doesn’t fit into the picture, and this often leads to anger. The worse part of the whole existence is that misogynists often get support from women.
But to dismantle the whole patriarchy ideology currently existing, we need everyone to contribute.
