General Hospital Alum Ricky Martin Facing 50 Years in Prison Over Domestic Abuse and Incest Claims

General Hospital (GH) spoilers reveal that soap alum and international singing star Ricky Martin (ex-Miguel Morez) stands accused in a domestic abuse case and today new details came to light about the identity of the plaintiff.

On Friday the Spanish news site Marca reported that the alleged victim is Martin’s 21-year-old nephew, Dennis Yadiel Sanchez. Eric Martin, Ricky Martin’s brother, reportedly identified the alleged victim.

The case is scheduled to be heard July 21st in Puerto Rico. According to Michael Fairman TV, “under Puerto Rican law, there are harsh penalties for sexual crimes when the alleged victim is related to the accused. Marca is reporting that if convicted, Martin could serve up to 50 years behind bars.”

Sanchez claims he ended a months-long relationship with Martin, “and allegedly Ricky did not take it well, and continued to contact his nephew and even show up at his house. The singer’s nephew alleges that Ricky physically and emotionally abused him.”

Prior to the victim being identified representatives for Martin issued this statement to People about the case: “The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated. We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”

Earlier this month Martin tweeted the following in regard to the charges against him: “The protection order entered against me is based on completely false allegations, so I will respond through the judicial process with the facts and the dignity that characterize me. Because it is an ongoing legal matter, I cannot make detailed statements at this time. I am grateful for the countless messages of solidarity, and I receive them with all my heart.”

Martin is also being sued by his former manager Rebecca Drucker. She claims he owes her over $3 million in unpaid commissions and alleges that in 2020 she helped him, “navigate what she calls a ‘potentially career-ending allegation.’” According to her legal claim, it was because of her that Martin came out of the experience, “unscathed and proceeded with his professional resurgence.”

According to The Hollywood Reporter, Martin got his start in entertainment at the age of 12 when he joined the Latin boy band Menudo. Eventually he appeared in two telenovelas before landing the role of Miguel Morez on ABC’s General Hospital in 1994.

Miguel was a singer and bartender and before Martin left the role in 1996 fans were treated to his musical as well as his acting talent. Later Martin credited his GH role for boosting his career. Former GH producer Wendy Riche said of Martin: “I wish he’d stayed on the show forever, but he had bigger things to do. I’m so proud of him.”

While on the show, Martin’s character was mentored by Lois Cerullo (Rena Sofer) and Brenda Barrett (Vanessa Marcil) via their company L&B Records. He also had a fling with Lily Rivera (Lilly Melgar) that resulted in a child named Juan Santiago.
