Before he joined “General Hospital,” Michael E. Knight was known as Tad “The Cad” Martin of “All My Children” for 30 years. His impeccable performance made him a fan favorite and it also earned him three Daytime Emmys. But his run as Tad ended when ABC canceled the show after 41 years.
After becoming a fixture in soap operas for decades, Knight was rarely seen in front of the camera except for his guest appearance on “NCIS” and for playing the role of Dr. Simon Neville on “The Young and the Restless.”
General Hospital News – Friends He Met In AMC and Y&R
When he was in “All My Children,” he made a lot of close friends. These include James Patrick Stuart, who he considers as his “oldest and dearest friend,” Maurice Benard, and Rebecca Budig, who he said means a lot to him.
When he joined the cast of “The Young and the Restless,” he also formed a strong bond with many of his costars. Steve Burton, who he already knew for 20 years, went out of his way to make him feel at home when he joined the show.
Then he became a guest on the podcast, “That’s Awesome,” which was hosted by Burton and Bradford Anderson. Knight had a blast. But aside from that, he realized that he’s had an amazing life.

GH News – Micheal E. Knight’s Gratitude Towards Soap Audience
He was also thankful for all the support of his soap fans.
“But there’s never been an audience like the soap audience. What drives the business, what keeps it alive, is the fact that this audience is truly second to none,” he said.
He recalled how the soap audience helped save his job back in the day when the show’s boss wanted him gone.
This line of thinking inspired him to reach out to Frank Valentini, “General Hospital’s” executive producer. He added that he was “totally humbled and totally grateful” when Valentini was open to the possibility of him doing some work on the show. Not only that, Valentini actually had an offer for him, which he’s very thankful for.
He concluded the interview by saying that he’s been so lucky especially for having friends he can count on. Knight added that people shouldn’t be sorry for him because he’s very lucky for being part of three wonderful shows.
