Lawyers tend to credit themselves rather than fate for winning in heated courtroom battles. But Johnny Depp’s attorney Camille Vasquez believes in keeping herself humble. As a result, she stated in a recent interview that she feels lucky to work so closely with Depp, noted the NY Post.

And Camille explained why Johnny chose her to represent him in court against Amber Heard. Appearing with CBS Mornings host Gayle King, Vasquez discussed the role her gender played. And she called it “important to have a woman on the team,” stated Camille, 38. Because “this case called for a woman’s perspective,” added Vasquez. “And I was the lucky person chosen to do this job.”

However, King questioned Vasquez on using the word luck. “Do you feel lucky? Is lucky the word?” demanded the CBS interviewer. But Camille took the probing calmly. “I think hard work and luck — you can’t underestimate there was a combination there. Of course, it’s a tremendous amount of hours,” she added, “But it’s also a little bit of luck. And it’s not a job that I took lightly. This was [Johnny Depp’s] name, this was his life. It was important,” summed up the attorney.

But while Depp’s lawyer stays modest, one of Amber Heard’s pals got mean. And as reported by OK magazine, Amber’s pal Eve Barlow turned to social media to complain. Eve posted a pic showing Camille Vasquez enjoying a birthday party with several other women. And one of those ladies is Dr. Shannon Curry, the psychologist who alleged in court that Heard appears to show borderline personality disorder symptoms.

As a result, Barlow hinted at an unfair advantage for Team Johnny. For instance, Amber’s pal asked why “the doctor who did Amber Heard’s Independent Medical Examination and appeared as an expert witness on the stand” also allegedly befriended Depp’s attorney. And Barlow slammed, “I guess this is how you get a Dr. to diagnose Amber with whatever #DARVODepp paid for. Get his lawyer’s bestie, a non-board certified psychologist with no ties to ethical guidelines, and plan her diagnose over drinks.”
