The Young And The Restless Spoilers: Get To Know Allison Lanier Before Landing Y&R Role

The Young and the Restless spoilers show that Allison Lanier (Summer Newman) has been a breath of fresh air to the show and her take on Summer Newman has been widely accepted as she brought her own flare and maturity to the role.

However, while she exudes these factors onscreen, offscreen it is a little bit of a different story. Apparently while in High School, Lanier lacked a bit of focus because she hadn’t truly discovered what her passion was yet. In an interview with Soap Opera Digest, Lanier explained, “I have to say, I just wasn’t someone who was driven. In fact, I was a little lost because I hadn’t figured out what my passions were yet. So, while I had dreams in my subconscious, I didn’t have the confidence to pursue them.”

When Lanier auditioned for the role, apparently the showrunners knew she was the one as it all happened very quickly. She recounts the experience saying. “I flew out to audition for Summer, after the audition I got a callback, and after the callback, I booked the job. It was quite the whirlwind.”

While she is aware of the legacy left behind by Hunter King, Lanier wanted to put her own spin on the character and make her stand apart from what had been done previously, “I knew when I stepped into this role I had really big shoes to fill. Hunter King is an amazing actress and she was very loved on the show, so it’s honestly just an honor to try to do this justice.”

I would say she’s been doing a pretty good job as many viewers are fond of her character and what she has done with Summer.

While Lanier had a lot to say about the cast, a few stood out like her on-screen husband Michael Mealor (Kyle Abbott), and how he “has honestly made me super-comfortable from day one. We have a great working relationship and we always want to run lines together. He’s from a town right next to where I’m from in Georgia.”

Of course, while speaking of Joshua Morrow (Nick Newman), the first thing she mentioned was how much of a jokester he is. Unfortunately, they haven’t had many scenes together since she began but we’re sure that will change in time.
