Friday’s Daytime Soap Preemption Schedule – Will Your GH, DOOL, Y&R and B&B Be Televised?

As you are probably aware, the impeachment hearings impacted daytime programming in the United States this past Wednesday, November 13th. And since there is another public impeachment hearing scheduled on Friday, November 15th, soap fans should be prepared for their favorite shows to be pre-empted then as well.

On Wednesday, The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and General Hospital did not air in US markets. Their Wednesday episodes were pushed to Thursday. Days of Our Lives, however, made its Wednesday episode available on NBC.com and on other outlets, and some NBC network affiliates aired the episode during the wee hours of the morning.

So, what will happen on Friday, November 15th? Well, first off, it seems likely that NBC will do as it did on Wednesday and make the Friday episode available on NBC.com and other outlets, with some affiliates airing the episode overnight. Still, the episode could air in some US markets, so soap fans will want to check their local NBC station to see if the show airs on Friday.

And what about The Bold and the Beautiful, The Young and the Restless, and General Hospital? CBS (which airs B&B and Y&R) and ABC (which airs GH) will likely make the determination on whether to nationally preempt their shows depending on how long the impeachment hearing takes and whether some US markets area able to air the shows.

We should note that Friday’s impeachment hearing may be a bit shorter than the one that was televised on Wednesday. Just one person will be testifying on Friday, so the proceedings may take less time. Of course, there will likely be pre-hearing and post-hearing coverage and commentary as well, so that could extend the coverage considerably, as it tends to do.

Friday’s impeachment hearing is set to kick off at 10 am Eastern. Soap fans would be wise to go to their local networks to see if their shows are on – at this point, it’s the only reliable way to know whether a show is airing in your market.
