Royal Family News: Daniel Craig Has Second James Bond Moment With Royal Family

British royal family news reveals that actor Daniel Craig was back on royal ground today for a real life moment that imitated his screen persona. The British actor was there for an investiture ceremony where he was named a Companion of the Order of St. Michael and St. George by Princess Anne.

It is the same title held by Craig’s movie alter ego, James Bond. Craig was one of many famous actors to portray the dashing spy, perhaps most notable among them Sean Connery and Roger Moore. Craig came to the mega franchise in 2006.

The palace posted a fun pic which showed Princess Anne bestowing the high honor on Daniel Craig. The Twitter pic caption starts with a wink and a nod to the handsome and daring spy 007 who never met a challenge he couldn’t beat: “We’ve been expecting you….”

It went on to say, “The Princess Royal presents Daniel Craig with The Order of St Michael and St George — the same honour held by his character James Bond — in recognition of his outstanding contribution to film and theatre.”

Royal Family News: James Bond Is a Screen Legend

According to the royal family’s website the Order of St. Michael and St. George was founded in 1818 and, “recognises service in a foreign country, or in relation to foreign and Commonwealth affairs,”

Craig the spy created by Ian Fleming in five movies: Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, Skyfall, Spectre and No Time to Die which was released last year.

Craig was the nation’s darling in 2012 when he portrayed James Bond in a skit with Queen Elizabeth. It all went down at Buckingham Palace, and was used to open the 2012 London Olympics.

Her Majesty appeared to have a grand time as she smoothly said, “Good evening, Mr. Bond.”

Royal Family News – The Queen Was A Good Actress

A wide angle camera shot showed the pair striding down the palace’s gilt hallways, accompanied by the queen’s loveable corgis.

Then, “the queen” parachuted from a helicopter into the Olympic stadium. It was a stunt double, but the crowd roared and the bit was oh so meme worthy.

Craig remarked on the queen’s sense of humor on “The Late Show with Stephen Colbert” in February, sharing that: “We were having our photograph taken, and she just went, ‘Oh no, he’s the one that doesn’t smile.’” Everyone has a favorite Bond it seems.
