According to the official synopsis, My Southern Family Christmas tells the story of a woman, who wants to get to know her biological father, Everett. Under the guise of a journalist, Campbell pretends to be writing a story about a tight-knit community that makes Christmas special. She finally has a chance to meet her father for the first time, without him even knowing who she really is.

Meanwhile, as Campbell spends time with Everett and his family, along with the town’s record keeper, Jackson, she realizes families are messy, wonderful things. Finally, she must decide if she is going to keep her identity a secret or reveal the truth to her father. This is a decision that will change the family’s Christmas forever.
