He started Newman Enterprises selling product from the back of his own car, and eventually became one of the richest men in the area after growing up in an orphanage. He married for the first time a woman named Julia Newman (Meg Bennett) and they moved to Genoa City where he started helping Katherine Chancellor (Jeanne Cooper) run Chancellor Industries.
