It’s good to have friends like these in your corner. British Royal News says that Gloria Steinem has gone on the record to defend Meghan Markle by saying that she’s not the same person that some media outlets are trying to make her out to be. Here’s what she has to say.

In a new interview with People magazine, Gloria had nothing but positive things to say about her good friend, the Duchess of Sussex, and said that she’s a great human being that isn’t given enough credit for all of the things she’s been doing, and especially by the British tabloid media.

Gloria said, “I’m not an expert on the media, but it seems to me that she is different from the picture of her in the media. She’s smart and funny and devoted to social issues. Maybe it’s the British tabloids that are the problem.”

She added, “I think we as human beings — or maybe living things on planet Earth, right? — are linked, not ranked. We have systems of race and gender and class that rank us, and that’s actually not accurate.”

Back in 2020, Meghan and Gloria sat down to talk about the importance of voting. During their interview together, Meghan Markle and Gloria talked about how important it was to encourage women to vote for this year’s election now more than ever before.

“People forget how hard women like you, and so many others before you, fought for us to just be where we are right now,” Markle stated.

In response, Steinem said, “If you don’t vote, you don’t exist. It is the only place we’re all equal, the voting booth.”

“What worries me the most are young people, who I understand are the least likely to vote and I can understand the feeling that they don’t think they have an impact,” the social activist said.

She added: “Yet, it’s more important for them to vote than anyone else because they’re going to be alive long after I am, and they’re going to be suffering the consequences.”
