British Royal News says that no one can blame them for feeling like the mixed bag of emotions that they felt on King Charles and Camilla Parker Bowles’ wedding day. Prince Harry writes in his new book, Spare, that both he and his brother Prince William did not want their father to marry Camilla. In fact, they pleaded with him not to. Here’s what you need to know.
British Royal News – William And Harry Did Not Want Charles To Marry Camilla
According to Harry’s book, Spare, which is coming out on January 10th, both he and William apparently didn’t want Camilla to be their new stepmother. Apparently, they were afraid of all the wicked stepmother stereotypes.
Harry writes, “Despite Willy and me urging him not to, Pa was going ahead. We pumped his hand, wished him well. No hard feelings. We recognized that he was finally going to be with the woman he loved, the woman he’d always loved. Fate might’ve intended for him in the first place. Whatever bitterness or sorrow we felt over the closing of another loop in Mummy’s story, we understood that it was besides the point.”
In the book, he writes, “I remember wondering … if she would be cruel to me; if she would be like all the evil stepmothers in the stories.” He added: “Willy had been suspicious of the Other Woman for a long time, which confused and tormented him. When those suspicions were confirmed, he felt agonizing remorse for not having done or said anything before.”
British Royal News – What’s Next For Harry?
If that weren’t enough, Harry recalled the time that he found out Camilla, who is now the Queen Consort, turned his old bedroom into her personal dressing room the moment that he moved out. “I tried not to care. But especially the first time I saw it, I cared,” the 38-year-old Duke of Sussex wrote.
One source close to the situation says that while Prince William has gotten closer to Camilla, it’s Harry that has never fully accepted her.
