Kim Kardashian Buys Princess Diana’s Iconic Cross Necklace For $200K

Kim Kardashian has taken one step closer to royalty by spending almost $200,000 on Princess Diana’s iconic necklace.

Reality TV star, Kim Kardashian, just spent $197,453 on the iconic 1920s pendant necklace worn by Princess Diana in 1987. According to TMZ, the necklace is crafted from diamonds and amethysts and hangs from a pearl rope. Read on to find out more about Kardashian’s latest gift to herself.

According to the Guardian, the cross necklace was crafted by the luxury jewelry company Garrard. In fact, it was made under a private commission for businessman Naim Attallah in the 1980s. Meanwhile, Princess Diana borrowed the 1920s necklace to wear to a charity event in London.

Reportedly, Diana and Attallah were friends, so he allowed her to borrow the cross necklace to wear on a number of occasions. Moreover, the necklace was considered a bold and elaborate fashion choice at the time that Princess Di wore it.

Now, three decades after the former Princess of Wales wore the beautiful necklace, it made its way to Sotheby’s to be put on the auction block for sale. Now, after the reality TV star purchased the necklace for almost $200,000, it is on its way to Kim Kardashian.

Iconic jewelry and looks are nothing new to Kardashian

Let’s face it, no one is really surprised that Kim bid for the iconic necklace. In fact, she is known for buying pieces worn by icons before. These include items relating to items and styles by Elizabeth Taylor and Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis.

According to Hollywood Reporter, Kardashian beat out other Elizabeth Taylor fans by paying $65,000 for a set of three gold and jade Lorraine Schwartz bangles, once owned by the late actress.

As for John F. Kennedy’s widow, photographer Steven Klein captured Ye’s former wife, dressed in a shiny brunette wig and suitable clothing to emulate the look of Jackie Kennedy Onassis. Meanwhile, Kim’s daughter, North West, who was four years old at the time, also played a starring role in the photography sessions.

Moreover, last year Kardashian wore one of Marilyn Monroe’s most iconic dresses at the Met Gala.
