Prince Harry claims to adore the concept of public service. But the Duke of Sussex appears to spend much more time making millions of dollars than trying to do good. And the latest list of how Harry achieved his growing bank account makes some question his supposed focus on public service.
Find out how Prince Harry makes his millions. And see what the royal family shared about his public service duties. Get all the details below.
Prince Harry Rakes – In Millions Amid Public Service Claims
The Duke of Sussex supposedly wants to do good. But in a convenient twist for his bank account, Prince Harry manages to define his public service as involving making millions. And the NY Post reported that the Duke of Sussex created his very own empire putting the focus on cash as king.
For instance, Prince Harry received a $20 million advance for his memoir, Spare. And he received more than $100 million in a Netflix contract. That deal involves Harry’s wife Meghan Markle. The couple signed with Netflix and their for-profit company Archewell Productions. As a result, the company created a reality/documentary, Harry And Meghan.
But the profitable deals just keep coming. For example, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex recently began work on another documentary. And that series will highlight international leaders. Add in Archewell Audio, which set up a deal valued at $25 million for creating podcasts for Spotify. Prince Harry may find it challenging to find time for his supposed love of public service.
Prince Harry -Focuses On For-Profit Companies, Not Public Service
And the Duke of Sussex also has made a point of linking himself to various for-profit companies. For instance, Prince Harry serves as chief impact officer for a Silicon Valley executive coaching and mental health enterprise, BetterUp. However, BetterUp faced challenges from its own employees by allegedly cutting therapists’ payments.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also aligned themselves with an asset-management firm Ethic. However, some have asked about the firm allegedly using unregulated ESG (Environmental, Social and Governance) investing. But the website claims that Prince Harry and his wife feel “committed to helping address the defining issues of our time.” Ethic manages more than $1.5 billion in investments.
And despite its name focusing on ethical concepts, critics question the focus on unregulated ESG investing. Because that can allegedly involve deceptive practices, some think that Harry made a mistake in choosing the company. For example, funds can require investors to pay huge fees for investing in assets that do not necessarily follow ethical guidelines.
Royal Family – Calls Out Prince Harry For Quitting Public Service
But in the wake of Harry making millions while insisting he loves public service, some may recall the Duke and Duchess of Sussex leaving the royal family. And after they quit as working royal family members, the royal website issued a statement. “In stepping away from the work of The Royal Family, it is not possible [for Harry and Meghan] to continue with the responsibilities and duties that come with a life of public service.”
As a result, the Palace arranged for “the honorary military appointments and Royal patronages held by The Duke and Duchess” to return to the royal family. And all that work then became “redistributed among working members of The Royal Family.” However, Prince Harry then became a working member and ruler of his very own cash-is-king empire.
