How King Charles Plans To Bring Representation And Diversity To His Coronation Ceremony

King Charles’ 2023 coronation will be the first coronation in 70 years – the longest wait to crown a new monarch in British history.
A lot can change in 70 years, and indeed a lot has changed, and King Charles wants to reflect the diversity of our times in his coronation ceremony.
Sone of the pomp and pageantry may not survive, but something better will be borne of it.
King Charles – Seeks To Showcase the Best Of Britain’s Diverse Culture
The coronation weekend will kick off on Saturday, May 6, and conclude on May 8 after a weekend of lunches, festivities and celebrations.
The opening day of the celebratory weekend will see the King’s Procession start at Buckingham Palace and make its way to Westminster Abbey, where the King and Queen Consort’s coronation is set to take place.
The service will be conducted by the Archbishop of Canterbury and will reflect “the Monarch’s role today and look towards the future, while being rooted in longstanding traditions and pageantry.”
Even though it will be scaled back, with only 2000 guests expected to attend the King’s coronation, in contrast to the 8000 present at the Queen’s 3-hour service, diversity and inclusion will be at the heart of this ceremony.
The coronation will feature a “more religiously and culturally diverse” service in accordance to Charles’ wishes to champion diversity.
“The King has stripped back a lot of the Coronation in recognition that the world has changed in the past 70 years,” an inside source revealed.
A Coronation Concert Documentary Will Be Made In Time For the King’s Coronation
Another thing that royal fans will be treated with is a behind-the-scenes documentary of how the Coronation choir will come to be.
Exploring the backgrounds of the musicians involved in the choir, it will shine a light on UK talents, which will include amateur singers and members of Refugee choirs, NHS choirs, LGBTQ+ singing groups and deaf signing choirs across the U.K.
The group will perform at the concert on May 7 with the Virtual Choir, featuring singers across the Commonwealth.
There will be projections, lasers and drone displays helping to enhance the performance.
