The recent flirtation we’ve witnessed between the doctor and the soon-to-be ex-Mrs. Cassadine is just a savory foreshadowing of what’s to come.

General Hospital spoilers show Austin and Maxie Jones (Kirsten Storms) called in quits about a month ago, and the doc is faring pretty well in the wake of it. Sure, it’s lonely spending all of his time at the hospital, but he’s also happy that Maxie is likely safer not being attached to him and his crazy family.

His cousin, Mason (Nathanyael Grey), has already made it clear that he’s intent on targeting Maxie’s daughter, Georgie Spinelli (Lily Fisher). Ava might be a better pick for Austin because she’s used to having enemies, and goodness knows Avery Corinthos’ (Grace Scarola) father has a few. Plus, they have tons of security around them all the time.

GH Spoilers – Hint Ava Jerome Cassadine Is Looking For A Distraction

Ava isn’t looking for a protector. She might have designs on finding a man that will actually keep her heart safe, but she can defend herself against any mobster in town. Austin is no match for her on that front, and she’s not afraid to stick it to people like Mason and call them out on the spot.

Of course, Mason didn’t take kindly to her doing that and he just might find a way to target Ava and Avery as well, which could pull Ava further into Austin’s orbit. Either way, she’ll be happy to be consumed by something other than Nikolas Cassadine (Marcus Coloma).

General Hospital Spoilers — A Match Made In Heaven?

Could Ava and Austin be the next big “it’ couple on GH? They both appear to have pretty shady backgrounds with families involved in the mob. Yet, they tried to make something of themselves in the real world without the attachments to their criminal enterprise families. Ava owns the Jerome Art Gallery, and Austin is an esteemed physician. We aren’t sure what kind of women Austin usually dates, but Ava would be a step in a different direction than Maxie. However, an edgy doctor who is quick on his feet might be just the kind of guy Ava needs in her life. We can’t wait to see where this goes. Stay tuned for more GH news and spoilers to find out.
