Hallmark Channel News: Holly Robinson Peete & Patti LaBelle Star In A Family Christmas Gift

Hallmark Channel news has some great information to pass on about an upcoming Christmas movie that you won’t want to miss. It’s called “A Family Christmas Gift” and it aired Sunday, December 22nd at 9 pm Eastern on the Hallmark Movies and Mysteries Channel. The movie stars Holly Robinson Peete in the lead female role. You may remember Holly from 21 Jump Street, Mike & Molly, and Chicago Fire. She’s also currently starring in the Hallmark Channel’s docu-series Meet the Peetes, as well as the Hallmark Movies & Mysteries Channel’s Morning Show Mysteries series.

In the lead male role is Dion Johnstone, whom you may remember from his roles in Stargate SG-1, Star Falls, and Ties That Bind. And also starring in “A Family Christmas Gift” is music superstar, author, and entrepreneur Patti LaBelle, who sings in the movie.

In “A Family Christmas Gift,” a woman named Amber (played by Holly Robinson Peete) spends the holidays with her Aunt Dora (played by Patti LaBelle). She helps plan a fundraising concert for the holiday, which brings Amber closer to her aunt and brings a new love (played by Dion Johnstone) into her life.

In a recent appearance on the Today Show, Holly Robinson Peete talked about her love of Christmas movies and her appearance in “A Family Christmas Gift.” Turns out, she not only acts in the movie, but she executive produced the movie as well. “It’s fun when you have mandatory movie watching because mom is in a Christmas movie,” she said. “It’s something the whole family can watch…It’s been fun to be a lead in a Christmas movie.

And about working with Patti LaBelle, Holly had great things to say. “I’ve known her for most of my life…she was at my wedding…she’s amazing. The one thing I’d never done is work with her. I saw her in another Christmas movie, and she did a great job in it but she wasn’t in it enough, she didn’t sing, and there was no baking. I was executive producer so that was my job. I was on Patti patrol.”

So, in “A Family Christmas Gift,” viewers can expect to see plenty of Patti, including lots of singing and great holiday music. Holly had great things to say about her other costar, Dion Johnstone, as well. “Every time I look at him in scenes, I just feel like he’s bringing out emotions just with his eyes, he just melts you.”
