Royal Family News: These 4 Guests Invited To Both King Charles’ And Queen Elizabeth’s Coronations

British royal family news shows that Westminster Abbey is the site of King Charles’ coronation on May 6 and it was the site of Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. A full 70 years apart, there are four special guests who could have the honor of being at both coronations!

The official guest list has not been released by Buckingham Palace but People magazine believes that there will be four individuals on it who also witnessed Her Majesty’s crowning seven decades ago.

Who are these historic individuals? One of them is Prince Michael, 80, who was 10 at the coronation of his first cousin Queen Elizabeth.

Along with his mother, sister and brother, “he rode in the horse-drawn carriage procession to Westminster Abbey and appeared on the balcony of Buckingham Palace to greet the cheering crowds with other members of the royal family.”

Prince Michael served in the British Army for 20 years, ran a private consultancy business, and later represented Queen Elizabeth at state funerals and other special events abroad.

Royal Family News – Prince Edward

Prince Edward the Duke of Kent was 17 at the coronation of his first cousin Queen Elizabeth in 1953. Today he is a senior royal and was the third prince to pay homage to Queen Elizabeth after she was crowned, following her husband Prince Philip and Prince Henry, Duke of Gloucester. Edward traveled during his service in the British Army and retired in 1976 to focus on royal duties.

Princess Alexandra, 86, is a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth and was 16 at Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. She was also a bridesmaid at her wedding to Prince Philip in 1947.

Princess Alexandra rode to the coronation in the horse-drawn Glass Coach and wore a Norman Hartnell gown, just like Queen Elizabeth.

Ten years later, Princess Alexandra returned to Westminster Abbey for her own royal wedding to Angus Ogilvy, with whom she welcomed two children. She has been a working royal throughout her life, and faithfully supported Queen Elizabeth at ceremonial occasions

Royal Family News -Prince Richard

Prince Richard, 78, is the Duke of Gloucester and a first cousin of Queen Elizabeth. He was 8 at Queen Elizabeth’s coronation in 1953. Later he attended Eton and planned a career in architecture. But that dream was scuttled after his brother died in a 1972 plane crash.

Following the death Prince Richard left London to carry a heavier royal workload and follow in his father’s footsteps as the Duke of Gloucester.
