Bold And The Beautiful Recap Tuesday January 7: A Shocking Proposal – Will Hope Choose Douglas Over Liam

On the Tuesday, January 7, 2020, The Bold and the Beautiful, night falls over Los Angeles as Liam Spencer (Scott Clifton) gives Steffy Forrester (Jacqueline MacInnes Wood) a blow-by-blow of his argument with her brother. Thomas Forrester (Matthew Atkinson) admitted that he has never gotten over Hope Logan (Annika Noelle) and never will. Liam unloads his frustrations on Steffy. Thomas is chipping away at his relationship with Hope.

Hope wants answers about Thomas’ fight with Liam. Thomas claims that he wasn’t threatening Liam, he was merely voicing his concern about Liam’s feelings for Steffy and protecting Douglas Forrester’s (Henry Joseph Samiri) mother. Hope demands the truth from Thomas: is his relationship with Zoe Buckingham (Kiara Barnes) a lie?

Thomas won’t put a label on it, but he promises that he’s not using Zoe and is truly attracted to her. Thomas confesses that he believes the best thing for Douglas would be to have Thomas, Hope, and their son together, under one roof. Liam can’t accept the familial bond between them, so he barged in and got in Thomas’ face. Thomas asks Hope to trust him: he’s doing everything he can to move on from her. Hope thanks Thomas for his honesty and starts to see things from his point of view. Thomas asks her to think long and hard about why Liam hasn’t proposed.

Carter Walton (Lawrence Saint-Victor) thanks Ridge Forrester (Thorsten Kaye) for including him in the Forrester family Christmas festivities. Carter was surprised that Liam didn’t ask Hope to marry him. Ridge suspects that Liam is still in love with Steffy.

Steffy tells Ridge that Liam is more concerned than ever about Thomas. Liam believes that Thomas isn’t really interested in Zoe. Ridge thinks Liam should mind his own business. Thomas and Douglas drop by. Steffy wants to know why Thomas threatened Liam. Thomas is irritated by his sister’s interrogation. Ridge chides Thomas for making threats. Thomas pleads that he was only sticking up for himself because Liam was coming at him. Thomas deflects, praising his family for supporting him and hoping that they will be “Forrester strong” in the new year.

Liam surprises Hope with a romantic dinner at the cabin. Liam laments the time they lost because of Thomas, but is excited to start the new year with new plans and commitments. He asks Hope if they can commit to putting Beth (Madeline Valdez and River Davidson) and their family first. Liam is taken aback when Hope asks if he provoked Thomas. Liam begs her to see Thomas for who he is: a liar and a manipulator obsessed with her. He’s terrified that Thomas is getting what he wants from her.

Liam asks Hope to marry him and separate herself from Thomas so they can put the horror of the past year behind them. He refuses to keep living his life with Thomas as a part of it. Liam gives her an ultimatum: he’ll marry her if she ends her collaboration with Thomas and their co-parenting. Hope is speechless.
