Matthew McConaughey Is Replacing Kevin Costner In Yellowstone

Yellowstone spoilers, news, and updates tease that Matthew McConaughey will be replacing Kevin Costner in Yellowstone.

It was previously reported that Kevin Costner will be leaving the franchise. He wasn’t able to commit to shooting days and he is busy with his new project “Horizon: An American Saga.”

According to reports, he is both directing and starring in the film. IMDb description of the movie states that some of the top casts include Jena Malone, Sam Worthington, Abbey Lee, Isabelle Fuhrman, and Will Patton, among others. The movie is reportedly a four-movie franchise as well.

Because of his current engagements, Costner cannot fully commit to Yellowstone. And now, it is confirmed that Matthew McConaughey will replace Kevin in the Yellowstone extension.

Matthew McConaughey will star in the Yellowstone spin-off. The current season of Yellowstone is Season 5 and they have just aired the first part of the season.

The second part is expected to be aired in November 2023. It reportedly had a conflict with Kevin Costner’s schedule as he could only commit one week to shoot the second part, but this has been denied by Kevin’s attorney.

The producers have also confirmed that Yellowstone will end after the second part of Season 5, leaving a lot of fans disappointed.

However, Yellowstone already has several spinoffs, including 1883 (which has already been canceled) and 1923 (which will end after its second season). This is probably why there is another spin-off with Matthew in it because the two prequels are already finished.

The Yellowstone extension confirmation is great news for fans, especially when the recent news about Kevin leaving the franchise surfaced.

The producers have already confirmed that Kevin Costner was a big part of Yellowstone and it wouldn’t have been successful without him. And the thought of Kevin leaving the series seems like the end of the entire franchise itself, but here we are with this great news.

What Do We Know About The New Yellowstone Extension?

According to reports, the new sequel series will premiere in December this year. It means that just right after Yellowstone’s Season 5 Part 2, we will be blessed with a sequel just soon after.

In an interview with Matthew recently, he said that he admires Kevin Costner’s role because of its simplicity. He further said that Kevin’s role is what will men do to protect his land and his family and that he just simply admires the simplicity of right and wrong depicted in the series.

We cannot wait for more news about the upcoming Yellowstone sequels in the future.
