Stephen ended Rufus’ life when the latter threatened him to expose his shenanigans. The man once drugged Carla Connor due to his desire to take over the Underworld.
As a result, the iconic villain put a vial of LSD in Rufus’ drink and pushed him to the pool, and he held the man’s head underwater until he lost his life. He managed to escape from the crime when the authorities announced it as an accident.

Trying to hide his uneasiness, Stephen continues to listen to Lou who remains strong in what she believes in. Moreover, she states that her husband’s mysterious drowning still doesn’t make sense.
Later in the week, Stephen becomes more horrified when Lou brings a bag of Rufus’ belongings that were collected during the incident.
The woman shows him a tie-pin that didn’t belong to her husband. When he takes a look at the object, the iconic villain gets a jaw-dropping moment as he recognizes the pin as his own. Things get worse when Lou vows to show the piece of evidence to the police.
