Prince Harry Blames Royal Family For His ‘Biggest Struggle’

Prince Harry just threw shade again at the royal family. And he did so by accusing his royal relatives of never offering him any support over his mother Princess Diana’s death. 

However, Harry also described what triggered him to recall what he views as his “trauma” over the loss of his mother.

Prince Harry Recalls His Mother’s Death

In his new Netflix documentary, Heart of Invictus, the Duke of Sussex recalled the death of his mother Princess Diana on August 31, 1997.

At the time, Harry was just 12 years old. But he shared that when he returned home from his second tour of Afghanistan, it triggered the “trauma” of losing his mother.

And amid reliving that “trauma,” Harry shared that he received no “support” from his family, according to New Idea.

“From my personal experience, my tour of Afghanistan in 2012, flying Apaches, somewhere after that there was an unraveling,” revealed the Duke of Sussex. “And the trigger to me was returning to Afghanistan.” However, Harry also feels that “the stuff that was coming up was from 1997 from the age of 12.”

And he described how he felt “losing my mum at such a young age.” The Duke of Sussex shared that “the trauma that I had I was never really aware of It was never discussed, I never really talked about it,” added the Duke of Sussex. “And I suppressed it like most youngsters would have done.”

Prince Harry Confesses His ‘Biggest Struggle’

Netflix divided the documentary series into five parts. It features both injured veterans and the Duke of Sussex.

However, Prince Harry blames his “biggest struggle” on the royal family. And he recalled returning home to find that “no one around me really could help.” But the Duke of Sussex also blamed the royal family for failing to offer him any “support structure.” 

And Harry then shared that he lacked a “network or expert advice to identify what was actually going on with me.” Discussing his situation in the mansion that he shares with Meghan Markle and their children in California, Harry also talked about therapy. But he confessed, “Unfortunately, like most of us, the first time you consider therapy is when you are lying on the floor in the fetal position probably wishing you had dealt with some of this stuff previously. And that’s what I really want to change.”

However, Harry has previously discussed his “trauma” over the loss of his mother. But royal expert Christopher Anderson revealed that King Charles does regret one aspect of Princess Diana’s funeral. And that involves forcing his sons Prince William and Prince Harry to walk behind their mother’s coffin.

“I think it haunts him because it haunts them,” shared Anderson. “And they’ve spoken about it. I believe it’s a form of PTSD.”
