Johnny Depp Recites Cryptic Poetry In Latest Dior Sauvage Ad
Johnny Depp is back as the face of Dior’s ultra-successful fragrance line Sauvage in a new ad titled, “the call of the Sauvage.” It is the “Pirates of the Caribbean” star’s first time starring in a commercial since winning his defamation case against his ex-wife Amber Heard in 2022.
The ad sees Depp, 60, reciting poetry while rocking an all-black ensemble. “An eagle cries as it circles its prey. The blazing sun high in the ozone blue sky. A trail of cold wind stirs a land of dry wood and stone,” he says, before adding, “This is the call of Sauvage Eau.”
The ad shows a desert, a black bird in the sky, dry wood and Depp rocking the giant rings he’s famously known for and looking cool spotting a black guitar – just about everything you need to make a fancy fragrance campaign that’ll have people lining up to buy it.
According to Variety, Depp reportedly inked the three-year deal with Dior at “upwards of $20 million,” with the outlet proclaiming the partnership to be the largest men’s fragrance deal in history.
Sharing the new campaign on their Instagram page, Dior wrote, “Bold and powerful, in his essence, his truth, @JohnnyDepp embodies the soul of Sauvage.”
Fans Praised Dior For Not Dropping The Star And For Standing By Him Through His Toughest Times.
Heard’s op-ed detailing how Depp allegedly abused her resulted in the star being dropped for the role of Grindelwald in Warner Bros’ “Harry Potter” spinoff “Fantastic Beasts,” and from other high profile roles and partnership deals.
However, despite all this, the luxury brand Dior refused to cancel their deal with him, and even publicly showed him support.
Since winning his defamation lawsuit against Heard, he has been making a steady comeback to Hollywood, by starring in the French-language movie “Jeanne du Barry” and going on tour with his band “The Hollywood Vampires.” It’s safe to say that Depp’s career is far from being over or cancelled.
