Savannah Chrisley is less than delighted with America’s prison system, as she claims her parents are yet to hear each other’s voice for a year. The “Unlocked” podcast host shared that it wasn’t an ideal situation for her parents, who have been married for nearly 30 years and now find themselves divided for more than a year.
Here’s how Todd and Julie Chrisley keep in touch from their respective prisons.
Savannah Chrisley – Says the Prison System Is Far From “Trying To Keep Families Together”
Savannah recently took the time to sit with host Doug Bopst on Monday’s episode of The Adversity Advantage Podcast to bring fans up to date on how her parents are faring in prison.
“When you look at our prison system and they like to say, ‘Oh, we pride ourselves on trying to keep families together,’ we don’t do that at all because my parents, they have not gotten to speak to each other on the phone,” the Unlocked podcast host, 26, said. “It has been a year and they have been together for 30 years and they have not gotten to speak to each other.”
She did admit that they get to send emails back and forth, even though she thought the means was less than perfect as the mails could easily get delayed. As for how they get to keep in touch this way, Savannah revealed that they use an app that allows them “to add people to their contact list.”
Savannah Chrisley – Accuses Correctional Officers Of “Stealing” Prisoners’ Mail
She further pointed out another limitation, which, sadly, is the fact that they can’t “send mail via postal service.” As for the reason why sending postal mails isn’t an option, the “Chrisley Knows Best” star claimed that “part of the retaliation has been correctional officers stealing their mail.”
While it’s been tough for the reality star couple – who wed in 1996 – Savannah shared that they’ve been sought of communicating through her.
“Every call I have with my mom is ‘Please tell your dad how much I love him’ and every call with dad is ‘Please tell your mom how much I love her,'” she added. “There is not a single call that they don’t say that.”
Todd and Julie are currently in prison serving a combined prison sentence of 19 years for fraud and tax evasion. They are still appealing their case and already, there are signs they might emerge as the winners this round of the court trials.
“One step closer to getting mom and dad home,” Savannah previously shared in her Instagram video.
