Days Of Our Lives Spoilers: Joseph Mascolo Iconic Soap Villain, Stefan DiMera – Honored On His Birthday

Days of our Lives spoilers reveal that viewers are divided about the current Stefano/Steve storyline in which Patch Johnson (Stephen Nichols) is now in effect Stefano DiMera. What is not up for debate is that the late Joseph Mascolo remains firmly entrenched in fan’s hearts and minds as a legendary DOOL actor, one who for years graced us with his acting skill and entertained us with his portrayal of Stefano DiMera.

Joseph was born on March 13, 1929, which means that today is a great day to remember and take a look back at one of daytime’s most epic villains.

When Joseph died on December 8, 2016, the soap community mourned the passing of an actor who had given his all to DOOL since 1982.

The Connecticut native attended the University of Miami, and while there he studied classical music and acting, playing the clarinet for the Metropolitan Opera Orchestra in his spare time.

From there he starred on Broadway before taking roles in the daytime. In addition to his role as Stefano, he portrayed Massimo Marone on CBS’s The Bold and the Beautiful, from 2001 to 2006. After leaving B&B he returned to his role as Salem’s most ingenious villain.

DOOL Spoilers – Stefano was known as a character who was larger than life and a villain who loved his family

Joseph died at the age of 87 after a battle with Alzheimer’s disease. He was last seen in Salem in 2016.

During his tenure as Stefano he was a part of many memorable storylines, several of which involved his “death,” and his knack for rising from the dead earned him the nickname, “The Phoenix.” Today the DiMera clan is still kicking up a ruckus in Salem, with Stefano part of a front-burner plot.
One of the long-running plots involving Stefano was his obsession with Marlena (Deidre Hall) who he called his Queen of the Night.

Days of our Lives Spoilers – How will the current Patchano storyline play out in Salem?

Fast forward to the present day where viewers have been treated to a storyline in which Stefano’s memories and identity have been implanted into Patch. This was done by Stefano’s loyal henchman Dr. Rolf (William Utay), who conveniently inserted a chip into Patch that has him believing and acting like Stefano.

No matter how this plot plays out, the memories that Joseph Mascolo created live on, and DOOL fans will always remember the late, great Joseph Mascolo with love.
